My nickname is crochetdoll, my real name is Luisa De Santi and I was born in Trieste, a small town in the North-East of Italy, known for the strong winds, the cold weather and the beauty of the sea and of the hills.
I've started crocheting and stitching way before learning to read and write, just looking at what my grandmother, my mother and my older sister were making, and I can't remember how much time I spent with yarns, a crochet hook and a lot of time to overcome....
After the degree in pedagogical sciences, I started working as a professional player in the local theatre and as a puppet-master with the Podrecca Puppets, touring all the world.
Working with puppets has been one of the most inspiring things of my life! My love for the puppets and my interest in creative craft lead me first to doll-making.
Always looking for new inspirations in fiber arts, in 2006 I became member of the European Textile Network and at the moment I'm attending the ancient school of lacemaking in Gorizia, the only school in Italy that gives a degree in bobbin lace master.
My original patterns for clothes and puppets have been published in some Italian magazines, I taught doll-making both to actual pupils and releasing multimedia courses, available in my website.
